For several years now it has been consistently investing in new technologies, which have earned it numerous green product certifications. Circular economy refers to a production and consumption model that, through processes such as reuse, repair, reconditioning, and recycling extends the life cycle of existing materials and products for as long as possible, minimising waste. 

A circular economy embraces the idea of a highly durable product that uses fewer resources and energy.  Silcart SpA has always been committed to the development of a sustainable growth model, supporting the transition to the circular economy. Receiving the ReMade in Italy and ISCC Plus certifications for some products in our range represented an important milestone that highlights the ongoing investments and environmental projects embraced by our company. 

REMADE IN ITALY: it’s an environmental product certification declaring the content of recycled material (or by-products), expressed in percentage, within a material, semi-finished or finished product, of any type and belonging to any supply chain.

ISCC PLUS: This is a voluntary product certification scheme, or rather “supply chain” certification, which ensures product sustainability, traceability and above all identification of the raw materials used throughout the production and supply chain.

 

OK BIOBASED: by TUV Austria. Our papers coated with natural glues, designed for industrial packaging as an alternative to traditional papers, have received the prestigious OK BIOBASED certification. Based on objective analyses and percentage of renewable raw materials, the OK BIOBASED certification scheme uses a star system to indicate the bio-based content of a certified product; the more stars on the label, the higher the biobased content. Both of our products were awarded the highest level, 4 stars, meaning a biobased content of >80%.

 

GEV EMICODE: as of 1 June 2018 Silcart is an ordinary member of GEV (Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation, Adhesives and Building Materials).

 

EMICODE is a system used exclusively to rank low-emission construction products, which classifies materials into three groups based on a standardised and strictly defined method of analysis. The criterion for inclusion in an EMICODE class is the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC) emitted. The classification parameters are continuously adapted to the state of the art.

When manufacturers apply for certification, the products are subjected to a standardised testing procedure conducted by an independent testing laboratory and aimed at detecting emission levels.

With this in mind, in order to satisfy customers through the supply of products and services that comply with their specifications and improve the efficiency of company processes, the production site in Mignagola di Carbonera is certified and operates according to the requirements of ISO 9001.

In keeping with the historical values that have earned it the trust of its customers, the company has also set the goal of preventing or mitigating its negative environmental impacts, and since 2007 it has willingly applied for ISO 14001 Environmental Certification, which objectively guarantees that all the possible impacts of its activities (water, air, soil, noise, vibrations, waste, etc.) are controlled and managed. The certification aims for increasingly advanced environmental standards that are stricter than the limits imposed by current regulations.

With the ISO 50001-2018 standard, Silcart is committed to guaranteeing the energy efficiency of its processes, progressively reducing waste, optimizing high-energy consumption activities and investing in the implementation of systems for the production of energy from renewable.

To export products, many countries require them to pass tests according to specific standards. Our products are constantly checked in our own laboratories and, where necessary, certified by accredited external laboratories.

SILCART S.p.A. in its production plant operates since many years according to a “System of integrated management – Quality and Environment” – that conforms to the requisites of the international ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards in order to constantly improve the quality of its processes, products, services and environmental performance and it is integrating also safety aspects in accordance with ISO 45001 standard.

The constant commitment to protecting all stakeholders, in order to ensure the maximum transparency in company organization, led to the adoption of a management and control system in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 231 of 2001 – the Compliance 231 Project – a useful tool for preventing criminal offences, and which guarantees a formal system of rules and principles of conduct and control.
